BEGINNING VS END

Ewe so,

This is the way Ijebu people of Western Nigeria ask, how do you do? I am asking as well, how do you do? How was the weekend? Hope you enjoyed it.

Today, we would be considering what we have always known with little or no difference but just as a reminder so that we would guard our lives, our thoughts and actions.

The beginning is when you are starting something, a career, a marriage, an academic program. The beginning is usually very humble and simple. Many people spite those who are either beginning or attempting to begin. The beginning requires a lot of sacrifice, one must be resolved to start.

The end is when a particular task is completed, when life ends, when the account of stewardship is given, when people come together to celebrate one’s success or failure of what began earlier.

However, I will illustrate with the mindset of my cousin. He said, “My concern is that 30 years down the line, what my family life would look like?” We have to keep our destination in mind, we need to get focused, and we have to be resolute to get to our destination from the beginning.

Avoid distractions from the beginning, avoid pride as you advance, be conscious of the friends you keep, be watchful of the vices you indulge in and ultimately keep the end in view.

As you go out today, keep the end of the day in mind. As you go this week, keep the end of the week at heart. As you go; as this year continues, keep the end of the year in cognizance. As you continue your life, keep the day you will die in focus. Do not have a good beginning and have a bad end, do not have a bad beginning and a good end but do your best to have a good beginning and a great end.

God be with us as we proceed.

  1. This is a very interesting and uplifting thought. Indeed we tend, in our activities, to ignore, or forget, one of the two things, beginning or end. It is good to keep both in mind.
