There is a certain organization that discovered huge revenue leakages and all the loopholes needed to be blocked immediately. The organization ‘ran’ to a renowned consultancy firm to request for their professional services. When the consultancy firm wanted to start working; they requested for all the documents from staff within the organization and at the end of the agreed timeframe, they submitted a report. There are professionals within this organization that can provide the same result but it was not entrusted to them. This correlates with the scriptures, ‘a prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.’

Mo ki yin o!

This greeting in Yorùbá means I salute you. It’s still a fresh year and I am looking forward to a great year. I will be using a lot of Yorùbá words which will not bore you but make you see things from the worldview of my culture.

As growing children, there are many professions that we desire to be a part of; some of these dreams materialize while some fail. Such professions include medical doctors, engineers, lawyers etc. These professions are guided by many rules, specialized training and technical jargons. For those who are trained, they are the professionals (awo) while the untrained are quacks (ọgberi).

Thank you for taking time to read my writings from time to time. I appreciate those who read it and I know that I would be tempted one day to write some specific names. Don’t worry; I will make it look like a genealogy!

I once had an experience wherein employees were all sent a document on the conflict of interest policy of the organization because it was noticed that many of the management staff now have company that are contractors to the organization. The organization got information about some people and they were shown the way out. However, the economic realities of our days need multiple streams of income. This is not an exhaustive HR note but it will be helpful for us all.
